Search Engine Marketing Services and Consultancy

Google, Yahoo, MSN... probably aren't new words to you... so just what is all the fuss about?

The web is a huge place, the last estimation we found quoted approximately 182 million sites, excluding sub-sites of some other larger systems, such as the millions of blog's hosted on Wordpress or Twitter Profiles!

Looking at this growing mass of information as a consumer, just how do you find what you are looking for?

Its like having the biggest library of books in the universe without any organization,
reference or index! We would be incredibly lost finding what we want, rendering this
information pretty useless!

Search Engines to the rescue!

These feats of engineering make sense of it all, providing quick access to the websites and information we are looking for.

Search engines like Google are constantly monitoring the internet for new websites and the content which they contain, to include within its internal database. This process is more comonly known as "Crawling".

Once crawled a site is analyzed by a rather smart mathematical process (called an algorithm), and Indexed according to topics the site is most relevant to. This catagorisation is determined by a mixture of factors, such as the other sites which link to it, internal links between pages, content of the website, the density of particular words related to a topic and more.

When you use a search engine to find websites related to a subject, you usually enter a search phrase such as "Web Design" this contains the keywords "web" and "design". The search engine will look to its index and provide to you in order of relevance, a list of sites which is feels fulfills your request.

Each search engine has its own particular way of sorting its index and supplying results, so we have kept our explaination simple and brief.

From a business perspective, search engines provide instant access to highly targeted and specific customer prospects.

If a customer types a search query eg; "Buy a new car" a Business advertising within Search, can provide a very targeted ad to this user which directs the user to their website. With traffic this targeted, a business is responding to requests for their exact services, therfore standing a higher chance of conversion than more diluted advertising such as newspapers distributed to a generic audience.
